The Two Rodneys

Years ago, Hallmark came out with a Rodney Reindeer ornament.  It became a running joke in our family that my husband was to hang him in a prominent place on the tree.  Now, you can purchase large Rodneys (and his girlfriend, Rhonda).  The two Rodneys posed together for a picture:

The Marvelous Toy

Does anyone remember the singing group, Peter, Paul & Mary?  (I'm dating myself, for sure!)  They sang a song called The Marvelous Toy, which is a fun children's song.  I found a video of them singing it!  Enjoy this fun song!!

New Bedding

Shortly before Thanksgiving, I splurged and bought a new comforter set, after looking for one for many months.  I saw the black and white version of this one in the Target ad, and was pleasantly surprised when I looked online to find that it came in blue and brown. It looks wonderful in the room!

Callie

Callie made it her business to "guard" the Christmas tree.  I think she was just waiting for us to leave so she could begin batting ornaments off the tree!

Worn Out

No, not me.  Grace was worn out when we finished decorating the tree!

Trimming the Tree

We had a lovely time decorating our tree.  It was special to have Anthony, Grace's fiance, help us this year.  Here they are, putting the lights on the tree:

December 1

Some of my fellow bloggers are planning to post every day during December.  I don't know if I can keep up with them, but I thought it might be fun to try!

Today was Phil's regularly-scheduled appointment with his oncologist.  Dr. Smith is always an encouragement to us.  He took a listen to Phil's lungs, and assured us that there were no lingering signs of Phil's near bout with pneumonia.  He's still hoping that we can get Phil off chemotherapy (he's been on it nearly continuously since April, 2008) and that Phil will have more stamina.

Tonight, we decorated our tree.  Grace and Anthony put the lights on over the weekend, and Anthony joined us for the hanging of the ornaments.  I'm not sure how it got started, but I hand out the ornaments and let everyone else hang them.  There are a few that I put on the tree myself.  It's always fun to remember when we bought special ornaments:  the two from our first year of married life, the one commemorating our first cat, the personalized one we got the year we moved into our current home.  We have made it a tradition to purchase a new ornament every year, and we try to find one that reminds us of something special that happened during the year.  We need to find a 25th anniversary one for this year.
