Anniversary Card

This is one of those cards that looked better in my head than in real life.  I sent it anyway.  :)

You can't really see it in the picture, but the background of the card was done with the Mystic M-Bossabilities folder, side B.  On top of that is a piece of vellum that I stamped with one of the images from Stampin' Up's Flowering Flourishes using Versamark ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder.  The sentiment is from another Stampin' Up! set simply called Congratulations.  It was stamped in Chocolate Impress dye ink.  To finish the card, I placed pearls at each corner of the vellum where I glued it to the base card with Tombow Mono Multi Glue.  I also placed a few pearls on the stamped image.  I finished off the card with a brown bow that I created with my Bow Easy.

Anniversary Card

This card required a lot of cutting with my Cuttlebug, but the results were definitely worth it!

My card is almost an exact copy of the ones here.   Like my inspiration, I started by cutting nine motifs with one of the Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Pendants.  I then used 1/4" Pop Dots, which I cut in half, to affix them to my card base.  Each motif except for the center one received a pearl in its center.  My focal image was stamped and then cut out with Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three.  I cut an oval to fit behind the center to give it some color before using more Pop Dots to affix it to my card.

Anniversary Card

My daughter and son-in-law celebrated their third wedding anniversary at the end of May.  I can't believe it's been that long already!  Here is the card I made for them.

The card I used for inspiration (and pinned to Pinterest, of course) was posted on Splitcoaststampers.  For my version, I used Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three; my stamp didn't have a manufacturer listed on it.  I popped the sentiment up on 1/4" Pop Dots.  To create the bow, I used my Bow Easy, a great tool for anyone who makes bows.

Anniversary Card

My parents celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary back in August.  This beautiful card - which I pinned to my Pinterest Cards & Paper Crafts board - was my inspiration.

Please take the time to enlarge the photos so you can see the detail of the white pieces across the center.

Those white pieces were cut and then pierced with Spellbinders Pierceabilities 5-1/2" Fancy Scalloped Border, which I cut in half and spread apart.  In the space between the pieces I placed my sentiment.  "Happiness Always" is from the Whimsical Words set by Stampin Up!, which I stamped using a VersaMagic Perfect Plumeria ink pad.  I cut it out using Spellbinders Standard Circles Small and while the die was still in place, I sponged VersaMagic Sahara Sand over the sentiment.  I then adhered it to Spellbinders Classic Ovals Small, and placed the entire piece inside Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two.  The flowers and leaves were made from Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms.  So cute!  And fun to make.  The pearls are by Recollections and available at Michael's.

This is probably one of the most elaborate cards I have made.  The pieces sat on my desk for many weeks while I worked to bring everything together, and in the end, I was totally pleased with the card.

Anniversary Card

Our former pastor and his wife recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  We were not able to attend the celebratory dinner due to another commitment on the same day, but I did make a card.  I was inspired by this card.

Anniversary Card

The last event on August 23 is my parent's anniversary.  They have been married 53 years!

The paper is all from my stash.

The greeting stamp doesn't have any company listed on it.  I stamped it with Brilliance "Lightening Black" ink, then cut it out using "Lattice Rectangles" by Spellbinders.  I used my sponge dauber and Memento "Angel Pink" ink to add interest.  The squares are Spellbinders Classic Squares Large and Small, and the circles are Classic Scalloped Circles Small and Standard Circles Small.  The medallion is from the "Baroque Motifs" set by Stampin' Up!  This has been my go to set of late.  I again used "Angel Pink" ink by Memento.

The mauve ribbon is by Stampin' Up! (discontinued), and the white embossed ribbon I believe came from Home Sew.  The pearls in the upper right corner are by Queen & Co.  The color is "orchid", and I purchased them at A. C. Moore.

Anniversary Card for Phil

On May 26th, Phil and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary.  We took the family to dinner at Romano's Macaroni Grill, and had a joint celebration with Grace and Anthony.  Sarah came along for the ride. 

You guessed it:  I made a card for Phil.

First Anniversary Card

Grace and Anthony celebrated their first anniversary this past Sunday.  If I were a betting woman, I'd wager you have already guessed that I made them a card.  Such a card it was!  I went all out, using ribbon, lace, and pearls.  I know this was based on a sketch I found on the Internet, but I'm not sure which one.  The card is much prettier in real life.

Today, May 26, is our 26th wedding anniversary.  Happy anniversary to the most wonderful man in the world!  Phil, I love you!!

25th Anniversary Celebration

I realized tonight that I never shared any of the pictures from our 25th anniversary celebration! We hosted a picnic on Memorial Day for our immediate families, which included our parents, and Phil's siblings and their families.  My brothers live out-of-state and were unable to attend.

The day was lovely, sunshine and temps around 70.  It got chilly when the sun headed around to the front of the house, so I donned the shawl Sarah made me.

The following evening, which was our actual anniversary, Phil took me to dinner at Carrabbas.  We enjoyed our delectable food, and reveled in each other's company.  For dessert, we shared crème brûlée, a first for both of us.  All I can say is mmm, delicious!

We were asked several times whether it seemed that we have been married for 25 years.  In some ways yes, but in most, no.  I realized I have been married for longer than I was single, yet I wonder how my years of wedlock have flown by, while the 23 I wasn't plodded along.  What I do know for certain is that I am happier and more in love now than the day I married.  I love the multi-faceted depth of our relationship, the contented companionship we share, and the God-created unity of our spirits.  I am indeed blessed.

Mystery Project

I finally picked up my cross stitch on Tuesday, when I wasn't feeling well. With time moving by at an unbelievable pace, I decided that I ought to tell my husband what I am working on so I can stitch downstairs when we're watching TV in the evenings.

Phil and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary on May 26. I wanted to commemorate the occasion with a special cross stitched sampler. I chose Sampler for Weddings and Anniversaries (PAD47) by Patricia Ann Designs.

This is proving to be challenging for me; there are lots of parallelogram-shaped leaves done in backstitch, and my eyes play tricks on me when trying to figure out where the stitches go! But I am making some progress, so I just need to keep going.

I will try to get a picture soon; other things have taken priority of late! (Like my daughter's income tax.)
